The Abundant Intelligence project is excited to announce two upcoming workshops that will introduce the Ka Hawai'i Pae 'Aina Pod, its projects with the community, and AI-related discussions that will help indigenous communities. WORKSHOP 1: INTRODUCTION TO ABUNDANT INTELLIGENCES

The goal of the first workshop is to introduce the community to the Abundant Intelligences project and the newly forming Hawaiʻi Aloha Intelligence Institute. This event will feature AI practitioners from University of Hawaii Manoa, the University of Montreal, and the world-renowned Mila AI Institute. Discussions will focus on how AI is currently used in meaningful and ethical ways, and how indigenous communities might use it to solve problems of greatest relevance to them. 

The workshop will also include in-depth presentations on two Abundant Intelligences projects:

1. Future Imaginaries of Indigenous AI – Exploring culturally grounded visions of AI that align with Hawaiian and Indigenous values

2. AI for Soil Health and Climate Justice – Highlighting how AI can be applied to address critical environmental challenges

The second workshop will introduce the Future Imaginaries of Indigenous AI Fellowships at the Hawaiian and Indigenous Future Imaginaries (HIFI) Lab. This initiative aims to develop future imaginaries of Indigenous AI that center Hawaiian and Indigenous cultural frameworks.

This two-day event will feature presentations from artists and storytellers showcasing their work, followed by an invitation-only art workshop on the second day. Activities will focus on:

1. Fostering creative storytelling

2. Supporting Indigenous-centered AI innovation

3. Building capacity through fellowships and training

4. Encouraging cross-cultural collaboration

5.Generating public engagement and meaningful discourse
