FEBRUARY WORKSHOP
The Abundant Intelligences project will be hosting a two week workshop in February, formally introducing the Ka Hawaiʻi Pae ʻĀina Pod and it's AI related projects. AI practitioners from the University of Hawaii Manoa, the University of Montreal, and the world-renowned Mila AI Institute will come together to discuss with the community, how AI is currently used in meaningful and ethical ways, and how indigenous communities might use it to solve problems of greatest relevance to them. During the second workshop, the Future Imaginaries of Indigenous AI Fellowships at the Hawaiian and Indigenous Future Imaginaries (HIFI) Lab will feature presentations from artists and storytellers showcasing their work, followed by an invitation-only deep dive.
ICC WORKSHOP
The first of six invitation-only workshops led by the University of California, Los Angeles, and funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). This series focuses on Innovation, Culture, and Creativity. The aim of this inaugural workshop is to foster collaboration among Pacific Rim Indigenous communities, creative industries, and academia to promote Indigenous leadership in pre-commercial technology research.
The workshop brought together professionals in cultural research, business, and technological innovations and draw on their expertise to ideate a path towards creating a CCM industry based on Indigenous cultural knowledge, language, and practice.
