Students from the Laboratory for Advanced Visualization and Applications, and the Academy for Creative Media System, demonstrated their Virtual Reality applications to 8,000 mesmerized attendees at the 2017 IEEE International Microwave Symposium – one of the largest conference that came to Honolulu in 2017.

VR demonstrations included an exploration of Strange Attractors, a simulation of stars falling into a black hole, a visualization of orbiting satellites around the world, a tour of the International Space Station, and an epic recreation of the Star Wars battle in the film, Rogue One.

Governor Ige of Hawaii made an appearance at the conference too and took the opportunity to fly an X-wing in the Star Wars simulation.
